Study in the most technologically advanced accounting program in Canada.Accountants are increasingly dependent on computer technology, statistical procedures
for auditing and forecasting, and mathematical techniques such as operations research.
Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy (Math/CA) is the only accounting program in Canada leading to a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree. You’ll acquire a strong background in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, complemented by an equally focused study in accounting, economics, and business-related topics.
Waterloo is the only university that is professioanlly accredited by the Institue of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO). As a result of this accreditation, you will have the opportunity to gain up to 16 months of ICAO-approved work experience throgh your co-op work terms. As well, by obtaining an 8-month Masters of Accounting (MAcc) graduate degree at Waterloo after your graduating fromthe Math/CA program, you'll be emempt from the ICAO Professional Program, which consists of the Core Knowledge Examination and the School of Accountancy.

Learning at Waterloo can take place in many environments beyond the classroom. As a Math/CA student, you’ll be invited to join our living-learning community (LLC) in the Village 1 Residence. If you choose to join, you’ll be placed together in residence with students in accounting programs from all Faculties.
In the living-learning community, you’ll be able to meet and connect with professors and staff from your program in a residence setting build friendships with first-year and senior students from your program get involved in residence-wide events and activities where you’ll meet people from a variety of backgrounds and programs participate in academic events organized by a Peer Leader for your group.

Both of the following routes provide you with all the academic course work currently required to pursue a professional CA designation.

Thirty months of relevant work experience approved by the ICAO is also required. Depending on the nature and scope of the work experience, you can gain as many as 16 of the 30 months during your 4 co-op work terms in the Math/CA program.
Unfortunately, due to co-op restrictions, the Math/CA program is not open to visa students.
